Twenty-Nine: God's Unchanging Faithfulness

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

All praise to the Lord for bringing me to Himself 29 years ago today (Sunday). In the several varied challenges facing our families right now, remembering God's faithfulness in my yesterdays fortifies my soul to trust that neither will He fail in His steadfast love and faithfulness for the years of tomorrows ahead. May He grant us all grace to love and trust Him more.

"Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

"The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

"Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace."
